B.C. businesses and organizations wanting to reduce air pollution and save on fuel costs can get rebates for electric vehicles through $2 million in additional funding for the CleanBC Specialty-Use Vehicle Incentive (SUVI) program.

“Through CleanBC, we’re making cleaner options more affordable and increasing the use of electric vehicles in how we get around,” said Bruce Ralston, Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. “These rebates will support B.C. businesses, including those in the tourism sector, in purchasing an electric bus, service vehicle or utility truck, helping them to reduce air pollution, save on fuels and grow their business.”

A new category, Utility Vehicles, has been added to the SUVI program. These include clean energy ATVs, off-road motorcycles, snow machines and even small watercraft. This addition comes shortly after the inclusion of cargo e-bikes. Now that those categories are open, manufacturers can submit their vehicles to be added to the eligibility list .

The eligible vehicle list and further program details can be found on the SUVI page:

Individuals may apply for rebates on electric motorcycles and low-speed vehicles, including limited-speed motorcycles.

Applicants for cargo e-bikes, on road medium and heavy duty vehicles, utility vehicles, airport, and port specialty vehicles must have a valid B.C. business licence or be a non-profit organization or a public entity.
