The Government of BC confirmed this week that $10 million will be added to the clean-energy vehicle (CEV) incentive program. The 2017 fall provincial budget allocated $40 million to CEV, with $27 million provided to the individual vehicle incentive program, CEVforBC. However, due to high demand the incentive would have been depleted by the end of September. The top-up will act as bridge funding until the Province releases its clean-growth strategy next year. Another clean-energy vehicle incentive is expected to be in the new strategy.
The incentive amount remains the same. The purchase of a new battery electric vehicle can receive $5000 and a plug-in hybrid EV can get $2500. Hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles are also in the mix and can receive $6000.
